¡Hola Amigos!  I'm Mrs. Brooks, and I have been teaching in Brookhaven for the past 8 years. I attended the Universiy of Southern Mississippi, where I majored in Spanish.  In 2003, I studied abroad in Mexico at La Universidad de las Americas in Puebla.  I graduated in May of 2004 and began teaching at BHS the following August. At BHS I teach Spanish I, II, and III.  I enjoy teaching because Spanish is such a fun language!  Brookhaven is a great place for teachers and students!

My husband, Ty, and I have been married for 3 years and have a son named Andrew (Drew).  Drew recently celebrated his very FIRST birthday in November!  Ty and I are very excited and love being parents.  Drew attended his first BHS football game against Petal.  He enjoyed watching the game, listening to the band and cheerleaders, and meeting the Panthers.  He can’t wait to become a part of the Panther family!

¿Por Qué Estudias Español?

Spanish is a language that is rapidly spreading.  For this reason, I believe that learning the language is important as well as beneficial for ALL students.  It is my goal to not only teach students the language but also to introduce them to Hispanic culture and prepare them for the diverse world that they will soon be stepping into as adults. I want to open their minds to new and different things and encourage them to respect and appreciate the language and the culture surrounding it.
